Back in 1858, folks were rushing to Colorado hoping to strike it rich in gold. As more and more people arrived, towns popped up everywhere. But when the gold ran out, many of these towns were left empty, hence the “ghost towns”.

In order to preserve a part of Colorado’s Wild West Heritage, the Ghost Town Museum first opened its doors in 1954. The genuine feels that you will get to experience out of being here is literally stepping into history in the modern world!

Real buildings from old Colorado towns were brought together to make this special place. You can walk down a street just like folks did a hundred years ago.

Inside these buildings, you'll find all sorts of cool stuff from the past. It’s a fun place to learn about Colorado’s history and have a great time, too!

Please note: the museum is operational all year round. The only time they are closed is during New Year’s Day, Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. And the last admission taken 30 minutes before closing.

It's easy to find! Just hop on Interstate 25 in Colorado Springs and exit at number 141. Head west on Highway 24 for about a mile and a half until you reach 21st Street. Turn left onto 21st Street, and you'll see our sign almost right away. Take a right into the first driveway behind the Roundhouse. You're there! Easy-peasy, right?
